Course Description: This course is designed to help prepare students in developing critical job skills to provide them with employment opportunities. Students learn skills in positive job preparation, attitudes, responsibilities, and rewards of entry-level employment. The goal of this course is to familiarize students with all facets of entering the World of Work and help them become productive employees. Students will study workplace communication skills, career exploration, applications, resumes, interview skills, child labor laws, workplace safety, and financial management.

Work Experience Individual Training Plan - Students will use this document to self-assess their work performance and determine goals for the semester. Students will meet with the teacher to discuss the training plan after they have self-assessed. Employers/supervisors will use the same document to evaluate students towards the end of the course. 

Worksite Observation Checklist - This will be used the teacher and supervisors to perform observations throughout the semester.

GRADING

Weighted Categories for this class will be as follows:

Work Seminar:
- 50% Assessment (projects, tests, quizzes, presentations, assignments)
- 30% Practice, Collaboration, & Participation ( assignments/homework, in-class work, partner/group work)
- 10% Participation (soft skills, daily work, attendance)
- 10% Final Project

Work Experience:
30% Assessment (Test category name in Skyward)

- 10% Practice & Collaboration (Daily Assignment category name in Skyward)

- 60% Participation
