We will demonstrate these in class and I'll be checking these during the course.
- Feet flat on the floor
- Center body with "H" key
- Sit up straight
- "Hand span" away from edge of keyboard
- Elbows in
- Curve fingers over keys and keep them on the home row keys
- Type and go back to home row
- Wrists level and off keyboard
- Keep eyes on what you're typing and off your fingers

- Strike keys with correct fingers
- Strike keys with quick, steady rhythm

Typing.com is a web based and interactive keyboarding curriculum. We will be using this site during the quarter for keyboarding lessons and timed tests.
Signing Up and Joining My Class
Signing Up and Joining My Class
1. Click on this link, http://www.typing.com/student/join#57CC4DF09CB04, and choose Log in with Google
2. Accept the message on the next screen to give typing.com access to your Google account
3. Click on Account in the upper right corner
4. On the Account page fill in your first and last name, then click on Save Changes
5. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and enter the code found below under Join Class, click continue after entering the code, choose Media Literacy Q(whatever quarter & year you are in) from the list, choose Join Class

- Make sure to choose the right quarter

Throughout the course you will be working on beginner and intermediate lessons on typing.com. At the end of the course, you will receive a grade based on the number of lessons you completed. Your goal is to complete all the Beginner lessons to 100% and the first eight Intermediate lessons to 100%.
Timed Tests & Grading
Timed Tests & Grading
Throughout the course students will take five to seven 15 point timed tests, five of which will count toward your final grade. Your score will be based on your accuracy and speed. After the last timed test, you will receive a 50 point score based on your improvement throughout the course. The link below shows how the timed tests and improvement will be scored.
